Pizza crust
Makes: 1 Large Pizza.
Prep Time: 1 1/2 hr. (approx)
Bake Time: 15-20 min.
LEAVEN
1 tsp Sugar
¼ cup warm water
1 package (about 2¼ tsp) yeast
DOUGH
2 c. Flour (use Whole Wheat for healthier Pizza)
1/8 c. Olive Oil
pinch of Salt
½ to ¾ c. Water
handful of Grated Cheese
3 to 4 Sundried Tomatoes chopped
¼ cup onions minced Dash of the following:
• Basil
• Oregano
• Pepper
• Rosemary
• Garlic Salt
• Italian seasoning
1. Prepare LEAVEN. To do this, mix sugar and warm water until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle Yeast in water-sugar mix. Let sit for 10 minutes.
2. While LEAVEN is fermenting, begin preparing DOUGH.
3. DOUGH preparation: Put flour in a large bowl, make a well, and put oil in the well. Sprinkle salt on top.
4. After 10 minutes, pour LEAVEN into the flour well, and mix with a spoon until liquid is absorbed into flour.
5. Add Water at 1/4 c. intervals and knead. Continue kneading until dough is elastic and firm.
6. Cover with a wet towel (or paper towel) and keep in a warm place (such as the oven) for about an hour.
7. After the hour is up, take dough out and preheat oven to 450F.
8. Punch down dough, then flatten out and begin forming the pizza crust. You can either roll it, or spin it in the air.
9. Place on a cookie sheet and add pizza sauce and other ingredients - as per your taste: cheese, meat, veggies.
10. Place in the oven and let bake for 15 - 20 minutes --until crust is nice and toasty looking.
